You may know from following my Insta feed that my favourite place ever ever, is Cornwall. We visit as often as we can and have for years have hoped that one day we could make it our permanent home. In fact we had sold our house and almost made the move two years ago, but it just wasn’t the right time, so we stayed put and plans went on hold. In truth, I never thought they would be resurrected let alone come to fruition. But here we are almost two years to the day and we are about to make the 300 mile move from Kettering in Northants to somewhere pretty much on the edge of the south west map!
I’m not gonna lie, it’s been emotional, seeing friends and family for the last time in a while is tough, but I keep telling myself that it’s not forever and the internet makes the world a very small place.
The practical stuff like working out where we will work from, live (and even how to transport Angus the cat) have been the toughest things and we’re still not 100% on everything but we are going ahead with the move regardless. I’m a firm believer that if we wait for everything to be perfect we’d never do anything, over time different problems will arise and before we know it we will be another two years down the line with a whole new set of problems to work out.
Worries aside, I really can’t wait to be living near the sea and the lifestyle that goes with it, I’m hopeful that I’ll have a better balance of work/life balance and I’ll feel more creative and motivated by being surrounded by such stunning countryside and coastlines. Obviously it’s a big move and I’m scared beyond belief, but in the long run I’m sure it’s the right thing to do for the whole family and alongside the apprehension I am stupidly excited.
P.S. If you have any experience of moving cats over long distances please get in touch!
